Michael Arnett graduated from Wake Forest University in 2008 as a presidential scholar, concentration Printmaking.  At Wake Forest, Arnett became a third generation student of Robert Rauschenberg while studying Lithography and Intaglio under Professor David Faber.  He received duel Masters Degrees from Converse College in 2010, Art and Social Studies, while studying silk-screen and lithography with Professor Andrew Blanchard.  Since prior to there being ceiling tiles or floors installed, Arnett has built the visual arts program at Whale Branch Early College High School as its only visual arts teacher.  Arnett is one of the three remaining “original” Whale Branch Teachers from the start of the school.  He currently is working with monotype and relief printing processes.  His process includes symbolic objects and animals representing his past.  The whole process combines pastel drawing, relief mark making, and painterly monotype inking.  Normally, a hyper-realist artist of colored pencil, oil, acrylic, ink, graphite, and digital media, this process is a nice abstract way of representing past memories.

“I have studied a lot and set a very high standard for myself and my art, and I will not lower that standard for my students.  We all need to set high standards for ourselves and the things that represent us, while also remembering ‘Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but rising every time we fall’-Confucius”  -Mr. Arnett
