Announcements/Current Happenings

1.    Attention Seniors- This Friday, December 1st is the Deadline for The SC Teaching Fellows Apply at www.teachingfellowssc.com. Please see Ms. Alexander in the Media Center for assistance.

 

2.      Attention Juniors and Seniors- if you received a permission form for the trip to Clemson University on THIS FRIDAY, December 1st. The signed permission form is due to Ms. Brown ASAP! They were due on Tuesday, November 21st. If you have a signed permission form and you intend to attend the trip- get your form to Ms. Brown NOW!!!!!!!

3.      Attention Juniors- All juniors and a parent or guardian MUST ATTEND the Testing Information Night here at Whale Branch on Monday, December 4th at 6 pm in the cafeteria. This is a mandatory meeting for all juniors. Your parents are required to complete a form indicating which college entrance exam they would like for you to take in March.

4.    SCHOLARSHIP SEASON has started. There are scholarship due EVERYDAY. All scholarships are listed in Naviance! Plus scholarship information is also available on the information wall in the counseling center! For help with completing scholarship applications- please see Ms. Alexander in the Media Center from 8:30- 3:30 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays.
 
5.    You must enter ALL colleges you are applying to into Naviance and request your transcripts in Naviance and teacher/ counselor letters of recommendations if needed. This is the ONLY WAY that transcripts and letters will be sent to colleges. Instructions sheets are in your yellow folders from college application day and are also available in the counseling center.
 
6.    Any student needing to make up seat time. You can get your seat time tracking form from the front office or the counseling center.
 
7.    All seniors should have not their Individual Graduation Plan appointment with their parent/guardian and their school counselor. If you have not, please contact your school counselor.

8.   Warriors- please congratulate Jasiah Ballenger for being chosen as the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award Winner for the Whale Branch Early College High School Class of 2018. Congratulations to Jasiah for being an example of a Good Citizen should be both in school and in the community.

9.     Warriors- please congratulate Eleckia Brown for being chosen as out of 1,963 semi-finalists for the Coca Cola Scholars Program. Eleckia was chosen out of 90,000 applicants from across the United States. Eleckia will move on next round to complete for a spot in the 250 finalists who a chance to win a $20,000 scholarship. Please congratulate Eleckia and wish her well as she competes for a spot in the finals. Eleckia was also selected to move on to the second round of for the Gates Scholarship. Congratulations to Eleckia for completing and submitting scholarship applications and being selected to continue to move towards winning two of the largest national scholarships that exist! 

10.  Warriors- please congratulate Ke’Shawn Manigo for being selected as the October Student of the Month for the Character Traits Courage and Tolerance and Jamyah Moore for being selected as the November Student of the Month for the Character Traits Respect and Gratitude. Please congratulate these students on being selected as Student of the Month.
