Elizabeth Thomas

Hello My Name Is...

Betsy Thomas

Mrs. Elizabeth Thomas
I was born and raised in Georgetown, South Carolina.  I attended Georgetown High School and then moved to Charleston to attend the College of Charleston. After graduation I taught public school for two years in Georgetown County.  I then went back to graduate school and obtained a Masters in Bilingual Legal Interpreting.  I worked in an attorney's office as an interpreter for one year, but I really loved the classroom, so I got back into teaching.  I am now in my 14th year of teaching Spanish. I loved the Spanish language from the moment I began taking it in high school.  In college, I lived and studied abroad in Trujillo, Spain and Sevilla, Spain.  I also spent a few months in Cuernavaca, Mexico.  High School is where I feel the most comfortable teaching.  I really enjoy working with teenagers and getting them excited about learning as well.

I am a Highly Qualified (HQ) Spanish Teacher.   This is my 3rd year at Whale Branch, and I am happy to be a part of Warrior Nation.  This year, I am honored to serve as Teacher of the Year.

I live near Beaufort with my husband, my precious 4 year old, and a sweet rescue dog.
